News Briefs LMS STUDENT ASSAULTED! An 18-year-old Lawrence High School student was hit on the head with a four-inch nail. Lawrence Friday night. Lawrence police said The incident occurred at the corner of Ninth Street and Schwartz Road when about five males attacked a group of high school students whose car had stopped at the corner, police said. The men wore long coats and Halloween masks and were armed with baseball bats and lengths of pipe. They appeared to be in their early 20s. The student was taken by his friends to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he was treated and is now in residence. Lawrence, opicer, said, on arrests had been made in connection in the incident. KU STUDENT THREATENED WITH KNIFE: A 20-year-old female KU student was threatened with a knife Friday night as she walked from her apartment to her car in the 1100 block Tennessee Street. Laurenville police said. Police said a man who was standing in the nearby bushes approached the student, who got into her car and locked the doors. The man then poured on her car while holding appalled to be a 3 inch pocket knife. The student drove directly to the police department and reported the incident. Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.
