- I would only like to say that there was some indication, at least in one paper, that somehow or other through this written, the Soviet system and the American system can coexist peacefully in an in terminate times. For an in terminate times, excuse me. We welcome you on this date, the first of May, which is a holiday in our country. It is about eight p.m. in Moscow now, and our people after live demonstrations are celebrating the day of Proletarian solidarity, the day of first of May. As far as the list of questions is concerned, I would just like to point out that we didn't have any suspicions that this list was somehow schemed or that the questions have been put to us with some kind of an aim which doesn't directly concern the answers which we would like to give to you. We think this is quite normal to have questions submitted in order to have them answered at a press conference. Now my answer to this fourth question. We as representatives of Soviet youth do sincerely believe that with our two systems, the American system and the Soviet system, can coexist for a very long time to come. If this wouldn't be so, we, our people and our younger generation, wouldn't try so hard to establish cordial relations with other countries and to expand our trade with the other countries. The principle of peaceful coexistence between countries is a mutually beneficial principle, and we sincerely believe that this principle will be adopted by all countries and this will be good for everybody. Our belief that our systems can peacefully coexist is based on the experience gained in history. The social system exists already almost 45, 44 years. In this century, we had to at the same time two world wars. Both wars, world wars, were lead between countries which had the same social system. Almost half a century, two different systems coexist. It is our system and your system. And therefore, there are no reasons not to believe in the continual coexistence of our countries, despite the difference of social systems for a mutual benefit of all of us. Maybe somebody would add something? Agreed, so on to the next question? - Please, the next question is related. Do the Russian people believe there is a real danger of attack from the United States? From the stated position of this country and its history are both bound to the principle of fighting only if attacked first. - You could even have asked this question in a different way. We say that we believe in the peaceful intentions of the American people. But at the same time, we suspect that there might be a danger of an attack against our country. Why do we think that there is such a danger? First of all, we cannot forget that there are many military bases of the United States around the territory of the U.S.S.R. That the United States of America initiated several pacts and the creation of several military blocks. At the same time, many prominent Americans who belong to the military or who are civilians sometimes pronounce aggressive speeches as far as against the Soviet Union. There is a law in our country, according to which the propaganda of war is a great crime. Now the third point is that the Soviet Union has made proposals concerning universal disarmament.
