Letter to Unknown 1862-10-31 [Page 1 of 3] 32 South St London W Oct 31/62 Dear Sir There are three most important principles in your Report, which, having obtained hold of, you must keep. For these involve all the rest. 1. isolating your Hospital on sufficient land to keep off the population [Page 2 of 3] 2. having a receiving house at St. Thomas' St. & removing your cases. 3. taking 30 acres of ground. All else will follow. I do not know Dr. Turle. But you should write direct to him, if you really think his Report necessary. I do no think there would be any difficulty in obtaining the required permission, if the Secy. consents. [Page 3 of 3] I shall be very glad to see the plan of the ground & also your proposed plans, when ready. I quite agree with you that in the Hospitals you saw there was nothing superior as a whole to the N. wing at St. Thomas'. Yours very faithfully F. Nightingale
