KU student newspapers

This collection contains a variety of historical newspapers published by students at the University of Kansas from 1878 to 2017. Since 1912, the official publication has been the University Daily Kansan (UDK). Now produced exclusively as an online publication (https://www.kansan.com/), the UDK largely ceased print operations in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic, but it remains an active and important source of news for students and by students at the University of Kansas.

Titles included in this collection are:

  • The University Courier (1878-1895)
  • University Times (1888-1889)
  • University Kansan (1889-1890)
  • Students Journal (1892-1895)
  • Kansas University Weekly (ca. 1895-1904)
  • The Kansan (1904-1912)
  • The Summer Session Kansan (1912-1939)
  • University Daily Kansan (1912-2017)
