Album of Japanese water-colors of at least 200 species of birds, including imported birds. Also includes some flora, and a bat. Several different artists contributed illustrations. Most of the illustrations are accompanied by explanatory notes; when and where the bird was found, the size and unique features, etc. Some are reproduced from other illustrations. Sketches were done from the late 18th century to mid 19th century. The latest recorded year is Kaei 2 (1849)

Each volume in one continuous leaf folded accordian style.
